Dear Rachel ,

Would you please tell me whether the following
sentences are correct or not ?

1- What A beautiful weather today !

2- What A bad weather!

** You know that " weather " is uncountable

noun . So, is it correct to use the indefinite

article " a " ? .Normally, it should't be

used . Right?

** Please tell me why ? ( Whether the sentences
are correct or wrong ?

I'm waiting for your kind reply.

Thank you very much.

Indeed:

182 on "beautiful weather we're"
http://books.google.com/books?...7re%22&sa=N&start=30

shows only examples without "a."

Absolutely correct, Sayed.

Noncount nouns -- weather is one -- do not have the indefinite article (a or an) in front of them.

Sorry, Sayed. This thread got buried way down at the bottom.

Yes, your sentences are correct:

  • What beautiful weather today!

  • What bad weather!
    _______

That's because 'weather' -- being a noncount noun -- cannot be preceded by 'a.'

You know, of course, that count nouns, on the other hand, must be preceded by 'a' or another determiner:

  • What a beautiful day!

  • What a bad day!
