Hello,

When someone wants to deceive me over the phone. Is is right to say;

"I was almost cheated by someone."

Are you referring to a situation in which someone calls you on the phone and tries to sell you something, Iwtk?

If so, I don't think you'd refer to the event by saying 'I was almost cheated/ deceived/ etc.'

I think you'd start with the active voice, and say something like this:

  • A guy called me on the phone and was pressuring me to buy xxx. I almost did! I almost got ripped off.
