Children do not make less demands simply because a parent has to work.

Is the expression 'less demands' correct?
Is it common and acceptable?

Thanks!

No, "less demands" is not correct. The correct phrase would be "fewer demands.

"Less" is correct with noncount nouns, such as less information, less coffee, less oil, less water, less money..

"Fewer" is correct with plural count nouns, such as fewer people, fewer cars, fewer children, fewer books, fewer items.

"Less" is often incorrectly used in please of "fewer," even by native English speakers.

See this recent thread about "less" and "fewer."
