Yes, only C is correct. First, 'long' means 'for long,' and with this time expression you need a present perfect verb to measure the time. That verb is only C. It would be possible to have the past perfect -- E -- to indicate a complete action of the past. However, then you would need the other verbs in the past, too. The sentence would have to be this: He hadn't worked here long, but he already had made...

I've also wondered where Jerry is. Was he angry about some posting on the GE, or is he just too busy, or is he ill or something? It would be nice if you would contact him, Rachel, and just let him know we're asking about him.
