Should we say "thanks for dinner" or "thanks for the dinner"?

Thanks for dinner is more commonly heard. We normally don't use the definite article with meals:

  • What did you have for breakfast?
  • Let's go to Wendy's for lunch.
  • Thank you! Dinner was delicious.
