Does the sentence in bold sound strange?
How about I want none of that?

Yes, the original is very strange. Yours sounds much better. And more natural is:

A: Here, have this box of chocolates.
B: No, thank you. I'm on a diet.
.

Yes, Mister Micawber has a good correction, and polite, too.

If your do want to use "I want none of that" in your answer, Kis, you could say:

Please! I want none of that! I'm on a diet.

In this case, "please" would mean "please don't offer me any." Then "I want none of that" means I don't want any part of the box of chocolates."
