there are many examples where we use the _ing ending to create adjectives:
tiring class talking bird shining day what can you tell me about "waiting"? I know verbs and gerunds forms work as nouns like in "waiting room". waiting man waiting girl waiting answers waitings ages??? This message has been edited. Last edited by: Guillermo, |

'Waiting room' is a room for waiting. 'Waiting' is a gerund here, and it is used as one noun modifying another. It's the same as 'dining room' or 'family room' or 'play room.'
In your examples -- waiting man,waiting girl,waiting answers -- 'waiting' is the present participle describing the noun: the man is waiting, the girl is waiting, and the answers are waiting. I don't know any meaning for 'waiting ages.' Is there any context for this phrase? |

yes, I remember this last expression was taken from a page of a book. but tell me some examples where I can notice _ing words working like adjectives, but the ones coming from a word that is also a verb.  This message has been edited. Last edited by: Guillermo, |
