Hi

I would like to know what the exact difference between particle and preposition .

Please provide some examples to make it clear.

It's not always clear. Some grammarians categorize them differently than others do.

Azar, for example, considers these verb + preposition combinations:

Look at, believe in, and pay for are clearly verb + preposition combinations.

And these as phrasal verbs, with particles:

Wake up, turn on and take out are clearly verb + particle combinations.

But there are many combinations that are more difficult to categorize. See this thread:
