Reply to "Determiners and Adjectives"

It's good to see you are back, DocV (you've been greatly missed), and I join you in thanking Ms Azar and Ms Van Etten for also sending me a copy of Ms Azar's great grammar books.

But it still seems to be an adjective.  Compare:

  • Four men have challenged me.
  • Ugly men have challenged me.

Notice, however, that determiners will always precede adjectives:

  • Four ugly men have challenged me.
  • Four ugly Greek men have challenged me.
  • Four better competitors have challenged me.
