Reply to "What are you? / What do you do?"

Hello, Abo, and welcome to the Grammar Exchange.

We never use "What are you?" as a substitute for "What do you do?"

But we can answer the question "What do you do?" with, e.g., "I'm a teacher."

We can use "What are you?" in special contexts—on Halloween, for example.
