I think that vindicates Navi's specimen. The prepositional phrase needn't be regarded as nonrestrictive if there is a way to read it as restrictive, as distinguishing one album of that name from another album with the same name.

The only question is whether the speaker, or the writer who quoted him, meant to restrict the referent thus. I believe Navi thought the meaning was the same as the meaning we find in this variation:

  • I think we've made our best album since (the) one we made in 1973: Quadrophenia.

I have placed "the" in parentheses because I do not know the artists or the album and do not wish to take the time to research whether the artists came out with another album in 1973. If they did, "the" should be omitted.
