Both sentences are ungrammatical because the subject of the relative clause is "advertisement," which is singular. You should say:

- We should be more mindful of the effects advertisements have/advertising has on our decision making, ...

As regards the concessive clause, I prefer the plural: whether we are (the) sellers or (the) buyers.
