All articles can be used with names of dishes, depending on the context or the situation.

Before a non-count noun or a plural noun, you can find the zero article:

- I had pasta and vegetables.

Before a singular count noun, you can find the indefinite article:

- I want an apple pie.

And when referring to a menu, you can use the definite article:

- I'll have the macaroni.
