Hi, Ahmed.A.A.—In American English, the punctuation mark conventionally used here is the en dash (–), which is slightly longer than a hyphen (-) and slightly shorter than an em dash (—): "The French team beat the Italian one 3–1." When that sentence is read aloud, "3–1" is pronounced "three to one."
