Saudi Aramco has gained roughly $300 billion in value since its shares debuted on the Riyadh stock exchange on Monday in the biggest initial public offering on record. It's by far the most valuable company in the world, dwarfing runner up Apple, which is worth around $1.2 trillion.

I came across this phrase "dwarfing runner up Apple", and I wonder what it means.

Hello, Ceedhanna: It means that the company Saudi Aramco is worth so much in monetary value that it dwarfs (i.e., renders small in monetary value by comparison) the company Apple, which is a runner up (i.e., a contender), being worth around $1.2 trillion. Saudi Aramco is worth much more than that.
