I grew up with 2 brothers, but 1 has passed away. I can no longer say "I *have* 2 brothers", but "I *had* 2 brothers " is not correct either. Is there a solution to this grammatical dilemma please?

Hello, MayEbony, and welcome to the Grammar Exchange.
You can say, "I had two brothers, but now I have only one."
