Hi,

When posed with a complicated mathematical equation, some students seek the assistance of a teacher.

A. solved           B. presented              C. informed                   D. spaced

The given answer is B.

However, I suspect that the question is incorrect because something such as a question/a threat/a challenge can be posed but we can't pose a someone.

Am I wrong?

Thank you.

Hi, Novice: The question doesn't make sense. Shouldn't there be a blank rather than a supplied (incorrect) word? You are right that the answer (or correct word) is (B): "When presented with a complicated equation, some students seek the assistance of a teacher."

We use "pose" with "question"; we pose questions to people. The sentence could be revised to read: "When a complicated question is posed to students, some of them seek the assistance of a teacher." But the exercise isn't to change the exercise! ♣
