Parents should spend some …..of time with their children every day.
I was thinking of quality time but the 'of' made me pause and ask for your help.
Yes, "of" renders "quality" a wrong answer. The only answer there is "quantity":
- Parents should spend some quantity of time with their children every day.
"Some quantity of" is equivalent to "some amount of," which would be more natural. But either phrase is superfluous, because one could simply say:
- Parents should spend some time with their children every day.
Obviously, if you are spending some time with others, you are spending some quantity of time with them. So perhaps the test makers meant to omit "of."
- Parents should spend (some) quality time with their children every day.
