Report & reportage

Yama,

One major difference is that I had to look up "reportage" to see if it was really a word, since I had never heard it before.  I confirmed that it is an actual word, but because it is so rarely used (in my experience), I recommend against using it.  There are better ways to describe the act of reporting, or that which is reported.

As we see in the previous sentence, "report" can be used as a verb, meaning "to convey news or other information".  It can also be a noun meaning "an instance or example of such information as conveyed".  This can be a news article, a school essay, or a spoken account of events or conditions, among other things.
