All of the sentences above (next time, please number them) are simple. Sentence (2) has a compound subject, and sentence (3) has a compound predicate. For a sentence to be compound, there has to be a subject and predicate linked with (at least) another subject and predicate, for example:

4. My brother teaches English and my sister teaches French.
