Hi.

I want to make sure if the use of "those" is correct,

... which can be seen by considering a set of examples such as those in [1]:

[1] 1....

2....

...



I remember that "those" can only refers to the things that have been mentioned previously,while "these" can refer to the things before or after it. So in this case it should be "these", right?

Yes, Robby zhu, "those" is correct there.

The rule wasn't designed to rule out such cases. When you say "those in [1]" before giving [1], you're referring forward to [1] and backward to things within it.
