too much

Dear teachers,

1. Don't spend too much time on video games.

2. Don't spend your time too much on video games.

3. Don't spend too much of your time on video games.

Please tell me if they are correct and explain the meaning of the different positions of "too much''.

Thanks.

Cocorico,

I don't like (2), but (1) and (3) are fine.  In (1), "too much" really just means "a lot of", and in (3) it just means "a lot".  However, if you were to say one of these:

1a: You spend too much time on video games.
3a: You spend too much of your time on video games.

the meaning would be "more (of your) time than you should".

Incidentally, I would prefer to say "playing" instead of "on" in each of the examples.
