My child has 2 sentences requiring punctuation that the teacher marked wrong. I'm pretty sure they are correct but would like verification.

What is that asked David

Do you think it is a bear asked Matt

Where does the question mark go in these sentences? (I know that it is also missing quotation marks but somehow that's not what the teacher marked as wrong lol)

Here is how those sentences should be punctuated:

  • "What is that?" asked David.
  • "Do you think it is a bear?" asked Matt.

Please let us know if that does not make sense to you.
