Hello, Ahmad,

When it means "give" or "grant," accord (which is a formal verb) follows this pattern: accord something to somebody/something (in this case, accord approval to the change).

In this case, we have passive voice: approval is accorded to the change, so the correct sentence is (A). The clause "as requested for" can refer to "the change" or to the sentence as a whole.

A. Approval is accorded to the change as requested for.

Please note that, according to the pattern in bold above, the indirect object is to be preceded by "to," so (C) (where it is clear that "as requested for" refers to "the change") does not seem to be recommended, even if it can be found:

C. The change as requested for is accorded approval.

Ahmad,

I am essentially in agreement with Gustavo here.  (B) does not work at all for me.

Although, strictly speaking, I don't find (A) or (C) incorrect, my preference would be to eliminate the particle "for":

A1: Approval is accorded to the change as requested.
C1: The change, as requested, is accorded approval.

I like these even better:

A2: Approval is accorded to the requested change.
C2: The requested change is accorded approval.

and these better still:

A3: Approval is hereby granted for the requested change.
C3: The requested change is hereby granted approval.

Mostly, though, my purpose in responding to this thread is to join my colleagues in welcoming you back to the forum.  You have been missed.

Gustavo, thanks a lot for your help. DocV, it is great to hear from you. During my unfortunate absence, I immensely missed the ever-ready helpful responses of Gustavo, the enlightening and unrivaled erudition of David, and of course, that inexpressible joy that I feel hearing from you.

Thanks.
